There is something about travel that feels so romantic to me. The early airport mornings, coffee in hand, a fresh set of plans ahead of you — it’s the perfect excuse to lean into effortless, elevated comfort. Whether you’re heading somewhere tropical, desert-chic, or coastal and classic, having a thoughtful travel plan makes everything smoother (and cuter).
Today I’m sharing my full travel guide: luggage picks, airport outfits, travel-day shoes, packing tips, and how to stay organized without overpacking.
Choosing the Right Luggage 🧳
Your luggage sets the tone for your entire trip. I like my travel pieces to feel functional, lightweight, and aesthetically clean.
Carry-On Suitcase
For trips under 5 days, I almost always stick to a carry-on. Look for:
Hard shell exterior
360° spinner wheels
Built-in compression straps
Neutral color (white, beige, black, soft gray)
A neutral suitcase feels elevated and timeless — and it photographs beautifully if you’re sharing travel content.
Checked Bag
For longer trips, choose something durable but lightweight. Interior compartments and expandable zippers are key.
My favorite brands of luggage are BEIS, Calpak, and Carl Friedrik and of course you MUST use packing cubes to make your life easier and more organized. You can find them for a reasonable price on Amazon, Target, or at your nearest Marshalls/TJMaxx.
Personal Item / Tote
I love a structured tote or oversized travel bag that can fit:
Laptop/Ipad
Makeup pouch
Travel-size skincare
Snacks
Book or Kindle
Chargers
A chic leather or structured canvas tote instantly makes your airport outfit look more polished.
The Perfect Airport Outfit ✈️
Airport style should be equal parts comfortable and elevated. You want to feel cozy for hours in transit but still look put together.
My Go-To Formula:
1. Matching Lounge Set
A monochromatic knit set or soft cotton set is my favorite. It looks intentional but feels like pajamas.
Neutral tones work best:
Cream
Oatmeal
Soft gray
Chocolate brown
2. Oversized Button-Down or Blazer
Layering instantly upgrades the look. A crisp white button-down over a tank or a structured blazer makes even leggings feel elevated.
3. Leggings + Fitted Tee
If I’m keeping it simple:
Black high-waisted leggings
Fitted white or black tee
Long cardigan or trench
Minimal but chic.
Travel Day Shoes 👟
Shoes can make or break a travel day.
Best Options:
Neutral sneakers (easy to walk in)
Slip-on sneakers
Supportive flat sandals (for warm destinations)
Ballet flats (if you prefer something more feminine)
Avoid:
Brand new shoes
Heavy boots
Complicated straps at security
Uncomfortable flats or sandals
Comfort always wins at the airport.
Travel Accessories That Elevate the Look
The small details matter.
Sunglasses
Oversized, neutral, timeless.
Minimal Jewelry
Gold hoops, a dainty necklace, and maybe a slim bracelet stack.
Baseball Cap or Slick Bun
Perfect for early flights and hiding travel hair.
Lightweight Scarf
Can double as:
Blanket
Pillow
Wrap for chilly flights
What to Pack: My Go-To Formula
Packing doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. I stick to a structured system.
Step 1: Plan Outfits, Not Pieces
Instead of throwing random tops in your suitcase, plan full outfits in advance. Think:
2 daytime outfits
2 dinner outfits
1 versatile set
2 swim options (if needed)
1 lightweight jacket
1 “just in case” dress
If everything mixes and matches, you’ll never feel like you have nothing to wear.
Step 2: Stick to a Color Story
Choose 2–3 core colors and build around them.
Example:
White
Beige
Baby blue
This allows you to rewear shoes and bags effortlessly.
Step 3: Pack Smart Essentials
Clothing Staples
Neutral tank tops
Linen button-down
Denim shorts or jeans
Versatile midi dress
Lightweight knit
Comfortable sleepwear
Shoes (Limit to 3–4)
Sneakers
Sandals
Heels or dressy flats
Pool slides (if needed)
Toiletries & Beauty Must-Haves 💄
I keep my beauty routine simple while traveling.
Travel Makeup:
Tinted moisturizer
Concealer
Cream blush
Bronzer
Brow gel
Mascara
Lip gloss
Cream products are easier to blend and pack.
Skincare:
Cleanser
Moisturizer
SPF
Lip balm
Mini fragrance
I always pack skincare in a clear pouch to avoid airport stress.
Packing Hacks That Actually Work
Roll clothes instead of folding to save space
Use packing cubes for organization
Keep jewelry in a small travel case
Pack heavier items at the bottom or in your carry-on
Bring an empty tote for shopping or beach days
And always leave a little extra room for souvenirs.
Destination Styling Tips
Your wardrobe should reflect where you’re going.
Beach Trip
Linen sets
Crochet
Flowy dresses
Raffia accessories
City Trip
Structured pieces
Blazers
Comfortable but chic sneakers
Neutral layers
Desert Escape
Bodycon dresses
Minimalist sets
Gold jewelry
Oversized sunnies
The Travel Mindset
The key to traveling well is preparation without overcomplicating it. When your outfits are planned, your suitcase is organized, and your airport look is both comfortable and elevated, you move through your trip feeling calm and confident.
For me, travel style is about ease. It’s about looking polished without trying too hard. It’s about neutral layers, versatile staples, and pieces that make you feel like the best version of yourself — whether you’re boarding at sunrise or heading to dinner in a new city.
Because when you feel put together, the whole trip feels better.
Here’s to chic airport mornings, organized suitcases, and outfits that carry you beautifully from takeoff to touchdown. ✈️✨
