A First Look at the New Nordstrom Rack in Canton: Pre-Opening Night + Grand Opening

7 min read

If there is one thing I will never turn down, it is an excuse to shop—and getting the chance to be one of the first people inside the new Nordstrom Rack in Canton was definitely an exciting one. As someone who loves fashion, shopping, and finding great pieces at even better price points, I was so excited when I was invited to attend the store's pre-opening party on Wednesday evening. And after getting an exclusive first look at the store before it officially opened to the public, I knew I had to go back for the grand opening the very next morning. So naturally, that's exactly what I did. Here's everything about the pre-opening party, what I found while shopping, and my honest first impressions of the brand-new Nordstrom Rack in Canton.

The Pre-Opening Party

Wednesday night was such a fun way to get a first look at the new store. I absolutely loved getting to walk through the store before it officially opened and see everything before the crowds came in. There is something so exciting about being among the first people to explore a brand-new store, especially when it's a store you've been looking forward to having locally. The atmosphere was so fun and festive. There were snacks and refreshments, a live DJ playing music throughout the evening, a photo booth, and lots of excitement from everyone who came out for the event.

It felt less like simply walking into a new store and more like a little fashion event—which made the night even more fun. And, of course, there was shopping involved. As part of the event, I received a $100 Nordstrom Rack gift card to shop with, which made getting to explore all of the new arrivals even more fun. And yes... I definitely put it to good use.

What I Bought at the Pre-Opening

There were so many things I could have walked out with, but I tried to be somewhat responsible. Somewhat. Haha.

I ended up finding three pieces that I am already so excited about.

Good American Kick Flare Jeans

First up: the Good American Kick Flare Jeans. I have been wanting a pair of kick flare jeans, and when I spotted these, I knew I wanted to try them on. They have that really flattering, slightly flared silhouette that makes an outfit feel a little more elevated than your standard straight-leg or skinny jean. And apparently I loved them more than I realized because... I already wore them the very next day.

That's always how I know I made a good purchase. I love pieces that immediately become part of my wardrobe instead of sitting in my closet waiting for the “right occasion.” These jeans are going to be so easy to wear going into fall with sweaters, blazers, boots, button-downs, and loafers. I can already see so many outfits with them.

ASTR Peplum Blouse

Next was an ASTR peplum blouse that I am absolutely obsessed with. It is one of those pieces that immediately caught my eye because it feels a little different from the basics I normally see. The silhouette is so chic and unique, and I love when a top has an interesting detail or shape that makes the entire outfit feel styled without requiring much else. This is definitely one of those pieces that can do the heavy lifting for an outfit. I can't wait to style it with denim, trousers, skirts, and different accessories to see just how many ways I can wear it.

ASTR Knit Mini Dress

And because I apparently wasn't done shopping, I also picked up an ASTR knit mini dress with a bubble nylon bottom.

This dress is just so cute and fun. I love the combination of the knit top with the playful bubble nylon bottom because it gives the dress a really unexpected silhouette. It's feminine, fun, and just a little bit different—which is exactly why I was drawn to it.

I can see myself wearing it for the rest of summer with sandals and simple accessories, but I also think it will transition so well into autumn with a jacket, boots, and a few layered accessories. It's one of those pieces that immediately makes you want to start putting outfits together. And obviously, I can't wait to style it.

Then Came the Grand Opening

After getting a sneak peek Wednesday night, I knew I wanted to experience the actual grand opening too. So yesterday morning, we got up early and headed over to the store. Our goal? 8:00 AM. Why so early? We were hoping to get there in time for the gift card raffles and, of course, be among the first shoppers through the doors. Unfortunately... We didn't win. 😭 But honestly, it was still fun being there for the excitement of opening day. And because we were up and out that early, naturally we had to make a Starbucks stop first.

A Very Important Coffee Detour

We were convinced the fall Starbucks drinks were coming out yesterday. We were wrong. We got our coffee, only to realize that the fall drinks don't actually come out until August 25th. So apparently we were a little too excited for fall. But honestly, that's okay because I am already counting down. Coffee in hand, we headed to Nordstrom Rack and got in line outside. There was already a pretty good crowd, and you could tell everyone was excited to get inside.

The Doors Opened at 9:00 AM

Finally, at 9:00 AM, the doors opened. And it was so fun. There were employees lined up throughout the entrance clapping and cheering as everyone walked into the store, music was playing, and everyone came ready to shop. It genuinely felt like an event.

And the energy inside was so exciting because everyone seemed to have the same goal: Find the good stuff before someone else does. If you've ever been to a store opening, you know exactly what I mean.

My First Impression of the Store

One of the things that stood out to me immediately was how clean and organized the store was. Even with opening-day crowds, everything felt easy to browse and there were so many different categories to shop. And the best part? There were SO many good items at really great price points. I think that's what makes Nordstrom Rack such a fun place to shop. You can find brands and pieces that feel elevated and special without necessarily paying full retail prices. There were so many moments where I would pick something up and think: Wait... how much is this? And then be pleasantly surprised by the price.

What I Found on Opening Day

Of course, I couldn't leave without finding at least one more thing. This time, I found a Kenneth Cole navy pinstripe button-down that I am already obsessed with. Navy pinstripes are such a great transitional wardrobe piece because they can feel polished and classic while still being incredibly easy to style.

I immediately started imagining it with:

  • White denim

  • Straight-leg jeans

  • Tailored trousers

  • A skirt

  • Loafers

  • Ballet flats

  • Layered over a tank

  • Or even worn open as a lightweight layer

It's exactly the kind of wardrobe staple I love finding—something that looks polished but can be styled so many different ways.

And Then There Were the Accessories...

I could have spent a lot more money if I didn't exercise some self-control. There were so many other things I loved and seriously considered bringing home. One category that really caught my attention was the belts. They had a few really cute Madewell belts at such great price points, and if you're looking for a good belt to add to your fall wardrobe, I would definitely check those out. There were also so many fun handbags and sunglasses. And the shoes! There were so many. Sneakers, flats, boots, heels... you name it.

I kept finding things that I wanted to take home, and eventually I had to remind myself that I was there to browse, not completely empty my bank account. Haha.

My Favorite Part? The Possibilities

The thing I can't stop thinking about is all of the potential finds in this store. There are so many different brands, styles, price points, and categories that you can really build an entire wardrobe from it. And because we're heading into one of my favorite times of year for fashion—the transition from summer into fall—the timing couldn't be better. We're at that point in August where we're still wearing our summer clothes but starting to think about denim, layering pieces, sweaters, boots, jackets, and richer fall colors. Which makes a new Nordstrom Rack especially fun right now.

I'm Already Planning My Next Trip

Opening day was definitely busy. And honestly, a little overwhelming. There were so many people shopping, which is completely understandable because everyone wanted to see the new store and take advantage of the grand opening excitement. So I'm thinking I'm going to give it about a week and then pop back in next weekend. Because one of the things I love about Nordstrom Rack is that inventory is constantly changing. Who knows what they'll have restocked by then? And I have a feeling there are going to be some really good fall finds starting to make their way onto the racks. So yes, I'm already planning another shopping trip.

My Nordstrom Rack Canton Shopping List

If you're planning to stop by, these are a few categories I'd especially keep an eye out for:

🤎 Transitional tops, Button-downs, blouses, lightweight sweaters, and layering pieces.

🤎 Denim-Especially if you're looking for different silhouettes or designer denim at a lower price point.

🤎 Belts-There were some really cute options, including Madewell.

🤎 Shoes-Definitely take your time here. There were so many options from casual sneakers to boots and heels.

🤎 Handbags-There were lots of fun styles at approachable price points.

🤎 Sunglasses-Another easy category to find something fun without spending a fortune.

🤎 Fall pieces-If you're ready to start transitioning your wardrobe, this is a great time to look for those pieces that will take you from August into September and beyond.

So, Is It Worth the Visit?

Absolutely. If you live in the Canton area—or anywhere nearby—I definitely recommend stopping in and checking out the brand-new Nordstrom Rack. It's clean, organized, has a great selection, and there are so many fun pieces at really good price points. And with back-to-school shopping and the summer-to-fall transition happening right now, it's honestly perfect timing. Whether you're looking for a few new wardrobe staples, a new pair of shoes, accessories, or just want to browse and see what you can find, I think it's worth a trip. Just be prepared to leave wanting approximately 47 things you didn't plan on buying. And if you see me there next weekend, just know I'm probably looking for another good pair of jeans or convincing myself that I really do need another handbag. Happy shopping! Nordstrom Rack Canton is officially open—and I can't wait to see what everyone finds.
