Sometimes you don’t realize how much you need a getaway until you’re suddenly surrounded by sunshine, palm trees, and people you love. This past weekend, Jimmy and I flew to Arizona to visit my dad and step mom (Kelly!) and experience the Waste Management Phoenix Open—and it truly could not have been more perfect.

From amazing food and golf-course vibes to shopping, sunshine, and family time, this trip filled my cup in every way. Here’s a full recap of our four-day adventure.

Thursday: Arrival Day + Cocktails at the Biltmore

We landed in Phoenix early afternoon around 1:00 pm, where my dad picked us up from the airport. First stop? Their new house—and let me just say, it is SO charming and in the best location.

The backyard alone deserves its own paragraph. Lush plants, flowers everywhere, actual grass (which feels illegal coming from winter Ohio), and the kind of outdoor space you just want to sit in all day. I could literally live back there.

After dropping off our luggage, we headed to the Spire Bar at the Biltmore for cocktails and some light noshing. It was such a great way to ease into vacation mode—catching up, sipping drinks, and soaking in that Arizona atmosphere.

For dinner, my dad insisted we go to Trevor’s, which he proudly claims is the best pizza in Phoenix—and honestly, I agree. It was absolutely delicious. Sometimes simple meals with family end up being the most memorable.

We wrapped up the night back at the house playing cards and laughing before calling it an early night, ready for a big day ahead.

Friday: Waste Management Phoenix Open Day

Friday started early with breakfast before heading straight to the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Kelly scored us incredible tickets through her work, which gave us access to the Greenskeeper section right on Hole 18. Such an unreal experience.

The vibes were immaculate—sun shining, crowds buzzing, music playing, and everyone dressed so cute. The food and drinks were included with our tickets (major win), and everything was insanely good. I had a chicken Caesar salad that was surprisingly amazing and finished with ice cream and sprinkles because… obviously.

We spent most of our time posted up on Hole 18 but also walked around to check out a few other holes. We were able to watch:

  • Scottie Scheffler

  • Sahith Theegala

  • Tony Finau

  • Jordan Spieth

  • Matt Fitzpatrick

  • Wyndham Clark

  • Chris Gotterup

Such a cool experience seeing these players in person.

My Open Outfit

I went for elevated casual and comfort-first:

  • Tan skirt from a local boutique

  • Yellow Good American scuba bodysuit

  • White cable knit polo cardigan

  • Yellow Sam Edelman shoulder bag

  • Tan Adidas Sambas

  • Fendi sunglasses

It was the perfect sunny-day look—cute, comfortable, and practical for a full day of walking and sitting in the stands.

After spending basically the entire day at the Open, we headed to Sushiholic for dinner—and WOW. It was insanely good. We ordered tons of apps, rolls, and sides and shared everything family-style. Truly perfect in every way.

Back at the house, we played more cards and crashed hard after such a full day.

Saturday: Breakfast, Adventures + Mastro’s

Saturday morning started early again with breakfast at Butterfields, then we were off to PopStroke (mini golf, but make it fun and modern), followed by go-karting—which was such a blast.

Next stop: Fashion Square Mall. Kelly totally spoiled me with some fun finds from Aritzia (can’t wait to wear them this weekend!) and of course we had to pop into Sephora for a little makeup refresh.

Saturday Daytime Outfit

  • Crepe Side Stripe Wide Leg Pull-On Track Pants

  • White bodysuit from Express

Easy, comfy, and perfect for a day of activities and shopping.

Afterward, we spent some time relaxing on their back patio in the sunshine before getting ready for dinner.

We had reservations at Mastro’s, and it was absolutely incredible.

For appetizers, we shared shrimp cocktail and oysters (I stuck with the shrimp—still not an oyster girl). We split a bottle of cab, and I ordered the sautéed sea scallops, which were so, so good.

Then came dessert… and I need to talk about this butter cake. It was hands-down the best dessert I’ve ever had in my life. I will genuinely be dreaming about it until the next time I can eat it again.

It was such a special night being together, celebrating the weekend, and enjoying amazing food.

Dinner Look

  • White Lioness Martini dress

  • Sophia Orchid heels from JW Pei

  • Yellow Sam Edelman purse

After dinner, we changed and headed to the casino for a few hours. We had such a fun night—lots of laughs and memories made.

Sunday: Sunshine + Goodbye Arizona

Sunday morning we had breakfast on my dad and Kelly’s back patio, soaking up the sunshine one last time. We spent the morning relaxing, doing a little sightseeing, and even visited my dad’s office before heading to the airport.

And just like that, we were back to reality—and 1-degree weather. Brutal.

Final Thoughts

This weekend was everything I needed and more. Quality time with family, beautiful weather, amazing food, fun adventures, and the coolest golf experience—it truly flew by way too fast.

We all agreed we want to make this an annual tradition, and honestly, I couldn’t love that more.

Arizona, you were so good to us. Until next year 🤍
