March is truly one of my favorite months to entertain — it’s that sweet in-between season where we’re craving sunshine, color, and any excuse to gather. If you’re looking for creative reasons to host something special, March is packed with built-in themes that make planning easy and so fun. Here are my favorite March events that double as the perfect excuse to throw a party:
Daylight Savings Time Party – March 8
When the clocks spring forward, it deserves more than just losing an hour of sleep — it deserves a bright, happy little celebration. Think “Here Comes the Sun” energy with a color palette of yellows, soft greens, and ivory. Decorate with fresh lemons, bundles of tulips, white taper candles, and pitchers of homemade lemonade.
You could host a late afternoon “Golden Hour Gathering” with light bites, lemon bars, citrus cocktails, and a fresh spring charcuterie board. Add floral dresses, woven textures, and sunshine-inspired details everywhere. It’s the perfect way to welcome longer days and officially step into spring mode.
Pi Day – March 14
Pi Day is such a cute, quirky excuse to host a cozy bakery café–themed night. The concept is simple: invite all your friends and have each person bring a different pie — sweet or savory.
Lean into a red and white gingham theme with café-style table settings, fresh flowers in mason jars, and little handwritten menu cards labeling each pie. Light candles, play soft jazz or French café music, and serve coffee, espresso martinis, or chai lattes.
It feels nostalgic, warm, and intimate — like your own little neighborhood bakery pop-up for the night.
Oscars Watch Party
An Oscars night watch party is the ultimate excuse to dress up and feel glamorous at home. Roll out a literal red carpet at your front door and have guests arrive in cocktail attire.
Make everything red-themed: cranberry cocktails, red velvet cupcakes, strawberry champagne, and classic movie theater popcorn served in cute striped containers. Decorate with gold accents, candles, and star details.
You can even print fake award ballots so everyone can vote on their predictions. It’s dramatic, elevated, and such a fun way to turn a Sunday night into an event.
St. Patrick’s Day – Lucky Girl Dinner
Instead of the typical green party, host a “Lucky Girl Dinner.” Make it about abundance, gratitude, and stepping into your best energy.
Decorate with pastel greens, touches of rainbow details, gold accents, and lots of candles. Add small bowls of charms and beads so everyone can make their own “lucky girl” charm bracelet during dinner.
Serve a beautiful green-inspired menu — fresh salads, herbed pastas, key lime desserts — and signature green cocktails or sparkling mocktails. It feels whimsical, positive, and meaningful rather than overly themed.
Spring Equinox – March 20
The first official day of spring deserves a dreamy fairy garden tea party. Think soft pastels — blush, lavender, baby blue, butter yellow — layered with fresh flowers everywhere.
Set the table with delicate teacups, floral linens, fruit tarts, macarons, mini sandwiches, and sparkling lemonade. Add taper candles, garden-inspired place cards, and maybe even little flower crowns for guests. It should feel magical, light, and full of renewal — a celebration of new beginnings and fresh energy.
For the Girls – Women’s Month Party
March is also Women’s Month, which makes it the perfect time to host a “For the Girls” spa and self-care night. Create a cozy, elevated at-home spa vibe with robes, candles, face masks, nail polish stations, and calming music. Set up a craft corner for vision boards or journaling, and serve refreshing mocktails, fruit, and light bites.
This one is less about décor perfection and more about connection — slowing down, encouraging each other, and celebrating the women in your life. It’s intentional, comforting, and so needed.
March is full of moments that can easily pass by — or become something memorable with just a little creativity. Whether you’re leaning into sunshine yellows and lemons, red gingham bakery nights, glamorous red carpet evenings, lucky charm dinners, fairy garden tea parties, or cozy spa nights with your best girls, this month is the perfect excuse to gather, decorate, and celebrate the season ahead. Here’s to making ordinary calendar dates feel extraordinary. 🌷✨
