One of my favorite parts of the holiday season is showing up to gatherings with something thoughtful in hand. While I love a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates, there’s something extra special about gifting something personal—especially during Christmas. Last year, I decided to try making faux Christmas arrangements as hostess gifts, and they were such a hit that I knew I had to do it again this year.

Not only are these arrangements beautiful and festive, but they’re also reusable, long-lasting, and feel so intentional. Plus… they’re actually really fun and surprisingly easy to make.

Why Faux Christmas Arrangements Make the Best Hostess Gifts

Faux arrangements are one of those gifts that check all the boxes:

  • They’re festive and seasonal

  • They don’t require upkeep or watering

  • They last year after year

  • They feel personal and thoughtful

  • And they instantly elevate any space

I made a few arrangements last year, and everyone absolutely loved them. People still tell me how they bring them out every Christmas, which makes me so happy. That’s what really sold me—knowing it wasn’t a one-time gift, but something they’d enjoy for many holiday seasons to come.

This Year’s First Arrangement: Silver & White Winter Elegance

This year, I kicked things off by making a silver and white faux Christmas arrangement as a hostess gift for a family friend who hosted a Christmas party this past Saturday—and she loved it.

I went for a clean, wintery, elegant vibe:

  • Silver vase from HomeGoods

  • Faux stems and florals from Hobby Lobby

The best part? I bought all of the stems last Christmas after the holiday season, when Hobby Lobby had everything marked down 90% off. This is hands down my biggest tip—stock up after the holidays and thank yourself next year.

The final result was so pretty—classic, festive, and perfect for winter. You can see the finished arrangement over on my Instagram, and I’m still obsessed with how it turned out.

A Gold Moment for Jimmy’s Sister

Next up was a gold arrangement for Jimmy’s sister, who hosts her annual Christmas party this Saturday. She loves holiday décor and festive arrangements, so I knew this would be the perfect gift.

Last year, I made her two larger arrangements, and they were truly stunning. This year’s version is slightly smaller but still just as festive and elegant.

What I Used

  • Gold fluted vase from Hobby Lobby

  • Faux stems and florals (also purchased last year during Hobby Lobby’s after-holiday sales)

Gold arrangements are so timeless and warm—perfect for Christmas—and this one feels especially special knowing it’ll be part of her holiday décor again this year.

Why Shopping After Christmas Is the Secret Sauce

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from making these arrangements, it’s this: shop after Christmas.

Every year, craft stores like Hobby Lobby dramatically mark down their holiday stems, greenery, and florals—sometimes up to 90% off. I always grab:

  • Pine and cedar stems

  • Berry picks

  • Iced branches

  • Metallic accents (gold, silver, champagne)

  • Neutral fillers like eucalyptus or frosted leaves

Then I store everything away neatly so it’s ready to go the following year. It makes creating holiday décor or gifts so much easier (and way more affordable).

Why These Arrangements Are So Easy to Make

I think people assume floral arranging is complicated, but these really aren’t. That’s part of why I love making them.

All you need:

  • A vase you love

  • A few faux stems (odd numbers work best)

  • Some greenery for volume

  • A little fluffing and adjusting

There’s no pressure to make it perfect. You can rearrange as many times as you want, step back, tweak, and play until it feels right. It’s honestly such a relaxing and creative process—and so satisfying when you’re done.

What I’m Planning to Make Next

I’m not done yet! I think I’m going to make a few more arrangements this holiday season:

  • One for my mom

  • One for Jimmy’s mom

  • One for another family friend hosting us after the holidays

Once you start, it’s hard to stop. Each arrangement feels a little different depending on the vase, color palette, and stems you choose, which makes every gift feel unique.

Final Thoughts

Making faux Christmas arrangements has become one of my favorite little holiday traditions. They’re thoughtful, festive, and made with love—and the fact that they’re reusable makes them even more special.

If you’re looking for a hostess gift idea that feels personal, creative, and elevated, I can’t recommend this enough. Whether you go silver and white, gold and greenery, or classic red and green, these arrangements are guaranteed to bring holiday cheer wherever they go.

Happy crafting and happy holidays! 🎄✨
