The Jackets of Fall 2026: 13 Jackets I’m Loving This Season

If there is one thing I always look forward to when fall fashion arrives, it’s jacket season. There is just something about throwing on a great jacket that instantly makes an outfit feel more intentional. Your jeans and a T-shirt suddenly look styled. A simple dress feels seasonally appropriate. A basic sweater becomes an actual outfit.

And this fall? Outerwear is anything but boring. Fall 2026 is bringing a fun mix of rich suede, faux fur, animal prints, leather, cropped silhouettes, oversized trenches, fitted tailoring and statement textures. We’re seeing a continuation of the shift away from ultra-minimal, quiet-luxury dressing and toward more personality, texture, color and individuality.

The best part? There isn't one single "it" jacket. Instead, Fall 2026 is all about finding the outerwear silhouette that fits your personal style — whether that means a classic trench, a fitted blazer-inspired jacket, a dramatic faux-fur coat or a little animal print moment.

Here are 13 jackets I have my eye on for Fall 2026.

1. RIXO Tommie Button-Front Jacket

Let's start with one of my favorite types of fall jackets: the polished everyday jacket. The Tommie Button-Front Jacket by RIXO has that effortlessly pulled-together feeling that makes it incredibly easy to style. It's the kind of piece you can throw over denim for a casual fall day or pair with trousers, loafers and jewelry when you want to look a little more elevated. Think of this as your "I didn't try too hard, but somehow I look incredibly chic" jacket.

Style it with:

  • Straight-leg jeans

  • A fitted knit or simple white tee

  • Loafers or ballet flats

  • A structured handbag

  • Gold jewelry

The key is keeping the rest of the outfit relatively simple and allowing the jacket to do the styling work.

2. Lovers + Friends Jocelyn Fawn Print Collared Jacket

Animal print isn't going anywhere. But instead of treating leopard as the entire outfit, I'm loving the idea of incorporating animal print through outerwear. The Jocelyn Fawn Print Collared Jacket by Lovers + Friends is exactly the kind of statement piece that can make an otherwise basic outfit feel fashion-forward. Wear it with denim and a simple sweater, or lean into the print and pair it with another subtle pattern. And yes — you can mix prints. Try animal print with stripes, plaid or even a small floral. The trick is to keep one print more dominant and let the other act almost like a neutral.

3. RESUME Cosmo Snakeskin Short Jacket

If leopard isn't your thing, try snakeskin. The Cosmo Snakeskin Short Jacket by RESUME gives animal print a slightly edgier, more fashion-girl feel. I especially love the shorter silhouette because it works beautifully with high-waisted jeans, trousers and skirts. A cropped jacket can also help create a defined waistline when you're wearing something oversized or longer underneath.

My favorite styling formula:

Snakeskin jacket + simple knit + wide-leg denim + pointed-toe shoe + structured bag.

That's it. The jacket is already the statement.

4. Mango Zebra-Effect Faux Fur Jacket

This one is for the girls who want their jacket to be the entire moment. Zebra has been one of my favorite ways to wear animal print because it feels a little unexpected compared to classic leopard. And faux fur makes it even better. A zebra-effect faux-fur jacket instantly gives you that vintage-meets-fashion-editorial feeling. It would look incredible with an otherwise monochromatic outfit — think black trousers, a black sweater and black boots — allowing the jacket to stand out. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, pair it with color. Fall 2026 is not asking us to play it safe.

Try:

Zebra + burgundy

Zebra + cobalt blue

Zebra + olive green

Zebra + red

5. House of Harlow x REVOLVE Perry Faux Fur Coat

If you're looking for a dramatic coat, this is the one. The House of Harlow 1960 x REVOLVE Perry Faux Fur Coat comes in leopard and has a longline silhouette with a double-breasted front, giving it that glamorous, slightly retro feel. This is one of those pieces that can completely transform a simple outfit.

Imagine: Black dress + sheer tights + knee-high boots + leopard faux fur.

Or: Straight-leg jeans + black turtleneck + heels + faux fur coat.

Or even: White tee + denim + sneakers + faux fur.

Don't reserve a statement coat for special occasions. Wear it with your everyday clothes. That's what makes it feel modern.

6. Zara Faux Suede Belted Jacket

Suede is having a major fall moment, and this Zara Faux Suede Belted Jacket is such a good example of why. There is something about suede in fall that just works. It instantly brings warmth and texture to an outfit, and the belted silhouette gives it a more feminine shape.

Style idea:

Suede jacket + white button-down + straight-leg jeans + brown belt + loafers.

Or try it with a midi skirt and boots for a slightly more polished look. And don't feel like suede has to mean brown. Olive, camel, burgundy and chocolate brown are all gorgeous ways to bring the trend into your wardrobe.

7. Damson Madder Jerry 100% Cotton Reversible Crop Trench Coat

The trench coat is getting a refresh for Fall 2026. Instead of only thinking about the traditional long beige trench, look for cropped, oversized or unexpected versions. The Damson Madder Jerry Reversible Crop Trench Coat is particularly fun because you're essentially getting two styling options in one. A cropped trench is also an easy way to play with proportions.

Try it over:

  • Wide-leg jeans

  • Maxi skirts

  • Midi dresses

  • Tailored trousers

  • Denim Bermuda shorts

One of my favorite fall styling tricks is pairing an oversized bottom with a more defined or cropped jacket. It creates that intentional contrast that makes an outfit look much more styled.

8. Lioness Soho Fitted Jacket

Not every fall jacket needs to be oversized. Fitted jackets are back in the conversation. The Soho Fitted Jacket by Lioness gives you that tailored, polished silhouette that works especially well when the rest of your outfit is relaxed.

Think:

Fitted jacket + baggy jeans.

Fitted jacket + wide-leg trousers.

Fitted jacket + oversized scarf.

Fitted jacket + flowy midi skirt.

It's all about balance. If your jacket is fitted, you can have more fun with volume everywhere else.

9. Hutch Snakeskin Longline Coat

We're taking animal print from the jacket category into full-on outerwear. The Hutch Snakeskin Longline Coat is a great example of how a print can become the focal point of an entire look. If a full snakeskin coat feels intimidating, don't overthink the rest of the outfit. Keep everything underneath simple.

Think:

White sweater + black trousers + black boots + snakeskin coat.

The coat becomes almost like an accessory. And remember my favorite styling rule for statement pieces: If the item is loud, let the rest of the outfit whisper.

10. Topshop Longline Oversized Suede Trench Coat

If you want the look of a luxury suede coat without necessarily going full designer, this Topshop option is worth adding to the fall mood board. The oversized longline silhouette features a notched collar, button front, pockets and belted waist, with a below-the-knee length. And while the current listing I found describes the color as navy, the important takeaway is the silhouette: long, oversized, belted and suede-effect. This is the kind of coat that can make even leggings and a sweater feel elevated.

Styling formula:

Oversized suede trench + fitted knit + straight-leg jeans + pointed boots + oversized bag.

Effortless. Chic. Very fall.

11. 4th & Reckless Jaden Faux Leather Belted Jacket

Leather and faux leather are another major part of the Fall 2026 outerwear story. But this season, I'm especially interested in belted leather jackets. Why? Because they give you the toughness of leather with a more feminine, defined silhouette. The Jaden Faux Leather Belted Jacket by 4th & Reckless is a great example. Pair it with something soft and feminine underneath — a silk blouse, knit dress or flowy skirt — for that contrast between structured and romantic. That's one of my favorite ways to make an outfit feel interesting.

12. Gina Tricot Faux Fur High-Neck Jacket in Black & Brown Animal Print

Another faux-fur moment? Absolutely. The Gina Tricot faux-fur high-neck jacket in black and brown animal print combines two of my favorite fall trends: texture + animal print. And I love a high neckline for fall because it makes the jacket feel even cozier and more substantial. This would be adorable with: Straight-leg denim + ballet flats + a little shoulder bag.

Or make it more evening appropriate with: Black trousers + pointed boots + statement earrings.

Faux fur doesn't automatically mean "dressy." Wear it casually and make it part of your everyday wardrobe.

13. The Real Trend: Personality

If I had to sum up the Fall 2026 jacket trend in one word, it wouldn't actually be suede. Or leopard. Or fur. It would be personality.

This season, the most exciting jackets are the ones that say something. Maybe that's a dramatic zebra faux fur. Maybe it's an olive suede jacket. Maybe it's a snakeskin coat. Maybe it's a classic trench in an unexpected silhouette. Maybe it's a fitted jacket that gives your favorite oversized jeans some shape. The point is: your jacket doesn't have to blend in. In fact, this fall, I think it should do the opposite.

How to Choose Your Fall Jacket

If you're looking at this list thinking, Okay Caroline, but I definitely don't need 13 jackets, I hear you. You don't. Instead, think about what your wardrobe is currently missing.

If you want something timeless: Look for a trench or classic button-front jacket.

If you want something fashion-forward: Try animal print or snakeskin.

If you want something cozy: Go for faux fur.

If you want something feminine: Look for a belted or fitted silhouette.

If you want something that feels expensive: Try suede or faux suede in camel, chocolate, olive or burgundy.

If you want something that makes an outfit: Choose a statement print.

And most importantly, don't buy a jacket simply because it's trending.

Ask yourself:

Can I style this at least three different ways?

Does it work with the clothes I already own?

Does the silhouette flatter the proportions I like to wear?

Would I still want it if it wasn't trending?

If the answer is yes, you've probably found a good addition to your fall wardrobe.

My Fall 2026 Jacket Styling Formula

If you want to make any of these jackets feel current, here's the formula I'd start with: Statement Jacket + Simple Base + Interesting Shoe + Great Accessories For example: Animal-print jacket + white tee + straight-leg jeans + burgundy ballet flats + gold jewelry

or Suede jacket + knit top + wide-leg trousers + loafers + structured bag

or Faux-fur coat + simple black dress + knee-high boots + oversized earrings

The jacket sets the tone. Everything else supports it.

The Bottom Line

Fall fashion is officially getting more fun. We're seeing suede, faux fur, animal prints, leather, oversized silhouettes, cropped trenches, fitted jackets and statement outerwear all sharing the spotlight. And I am very much here for it. Your jacket doesn't have to be the most practical piece in your closet. Sometimes it can simply be the piece that makes you excited to get dressed. Because that's what I love most about fashion: you don't need an entirely new wardrobe to feel different. Sometimes, all you need is one really good jacket. Seen it. Loved it. Now it's time to style it. 🤎
