I can’t believe I’m officially at the halfway mark of my 100-day challenge! It honestly feels surreal to think that 50 days have already flown by. When I started this challenge, I knew it would be tough — walking 4 miles every day, reading for at least 20 minutes, working out for at least 20 minutes, avoiding all non-essential spending, and cutting out sweets completely for 100 days. But now that I’m halfway through, I can confidently say: it’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself.
The Daily Walks
Let’s start with the walking. I’ve walked at least 4 miles every single day — and most days, I’ve actually gone over that. Rain or shine, tired or energized, I’ve made sure to get those miles in. There were definitely days where my feet were literally throbbing and people around me would tell me to take a break, but I was determined. I would rub them out, elevate them, and keep going. This challenge was never about being perfect — it was about being consistent and showing up for myself.
What’s crazy is how much I’ve grown to love my daily walks even more. Walking has always been something I enjoyed, but now it feels like a non-negotiable part of my day. It’s where I think, reflect, listen to a podcast, or just zone out and enjoy the world around me. It’s become my “me time,” and I already know it’s something I’ll continue doing long after this challenge is over.
Rediscovering My Love for Reading
Another part of this challenge I’ve absolutely loved is reading every single day. I’ve always been a reader, but like a lot of people, I’d fallen out of the habit. Having a set goal of reading at least 20 minutes a day has completely reignited my love for it.
So far, I’ve read:
The Paris Apartment — loved it. Such a good mystery!
Tell Me Everything — it was okay, not my favorite.
The Midnight Feast — really good and kept me hooked.
The Housemaid — absolutely loved it!! (cant wait for the movie)
And now, I’m currently reading The Housemaid’s Secret — and it’s already sooo good!
Getting lost in a good book every day has been such a rewarding part of this challenge. It’s also something I plan to keep in my daily routine even after the 100 days are up. There’s just something so grounding about ending the day with a book instead of scrolling on my phone or getting lost in the television.
Staying Active (Even When I Got Sick)
The workout part has definitely tested me the most — especially last week when I came down with something and was REALLY sick Sunday through Wednesday. I didn’t have the energy to do my normal workouts, but I still made sure to get my walks in and move my body in some way. Once I felt better, I made up for it by doing some killer workouts the following days.
I’ve learned that it’s okay to rest when your body needs it. Life is busy and chaotic, and sometimes things just don’t go as planned — but what matters most is how you handle it and move forward. You can take a break, just don’t quit.
No Sweets (Yes, Really!)
Now let’s talk about the no sweets rule. This was the part I was the most nervous about because I have a major sweet tooth. I love desserts — a “yummy little treat” after dinner was a daily thing for me. But surprisingly, it’s been easier than I thought!
Of course, there have been moments when I craved something sweet, but I’ve held myself accountable and said no. And honestly, I’m really proud of that. The self-control and discipline I’ve built through this challenge feel amazing — and those small wins really do add up.
Cutting Out Non-Essential Spending
This one has been an eye-opener. I made an exception at the start of the challenge to allow for purchases for my upcoming Seaside, Florida trip, so technically I did shop a little bit for that — but other than that, I’ve stuck to it!
Not spending on little “dumb purchases” has made me realize how unnecessary so many of the things I want actually are. I already have everything I need. Saving money and being smart about my spending feels so good and way more fulfilling than buying another random thing I’ll forget about next week.
Now, don’t get me wrong — I still have my eye on a few things, like the Sam Edelman Sylvia Wide Calf Knee-High Boots (they’re $200 and would be perfect every fall and winter). But do I need them right now? No. And that’s the whole point. Be smart, buy what’s practical, and invest in quality basics you can build off.
Lessons So Far
At the 50-day mark, I’ve learned so much about discipline, balance, and consistency. There will always be days where things don’t go as planned. There will be moments where you’re tired, busy, or just not feeling it. But this challenge has taught me that what really matters is how you bounce back. It’s okay to listen to your body, take a day off, or give yourself grace — as long as you keep going.
The Big Picture
More than anything, this challenge isn’t just about these 100 days. It’s about building lasting habits and transitioning into a healthier, more mindful lifestyle. I want to move my body daily, fuel it well, be intentional with my time and money, and continue to grow into the best version of myself. And the best part? My last day lands on Christmas Eve — which means Christmas Day is going to feel so good. 🎄✨
I can’t wait to see how the next 50 days go, but if I’ve learned one thing so far, it’s this: consistency truly changes everything.
